In a recent development in Panama, the state power transmission company, Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica S.A. (Etesa), has awarded a contract to Celmec for enhancing power dispatch capabilities in the Colón province. This project is focused on the development and implementation of several key infrastructural elements.
The contract includes the installation and initiation of civil works for the 230kV Sabanitas-Santa Rita transmission line, the construction of the 230kV Santa Rita substation, and the expansion of the 230kV Sabanitas substation. These developments are crucial for reinforcing the power transmission infrastructure in the region.
Celmec emerged as the successful bidder for this project, securing the contract with a competitive bid of US$21.7 million. This bid was notably lower than the reference budget set at US$23 million. The only other contender for this contract was Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, which had submitted a bid of US$22.6 million. The contract duration with Celmec is set for 662 days, during which the company will execute the outlined works.
