The Salvadoran group Unicomer arrives in the United States with the RadioShack brand

Unicomer, with parent company in El Salvador, acquired RadioShack’s intellectual property and domain assets in about 70 countries in 2023, including the U.S. U.S.

The Salvadoran Unicomer Group announced its arrival on the American market hand in hand with the RadioShack brand, dedicated to the sale of technological products for a century.

In a statement, issued on August 12, Unicomer, under the presidency of Mario Simán, pointed out that the “arrival of the brand under our operation brings a new strategy of sale, innovation in product lines and a world quality purchase experience.”

RadioShack is an iconic network founded in 1921 in the United States. In 1998, Unicomer acquired the franchise and in 2015 bought the trademarks, intellectual property and franchisee contracts from 21 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Through the Global Franchising Corporation (GFC) subsidiary, Unicomer took a step forward after acquiring in May 2023 the intellectual property and domains of the tech store chain in about 70 countries, including the operation of the United States, Europe, Canada and China.


Online sales arm

Unicomer noted that customers in the United States, the world’s leading economy with more than 300 million inhabitants, will access a broad portfolio available on the brand’s official website, in addition to the sales stalls at Amazon and Walmart.

To strengthen its e-commerce muscle, the group announced that they also improved the logistics operation with the establishment of a certified distribution center in Atlanta, dedicated exclusively to e-commerce and marketplaces deliveries.

The conglomerate also noted that under its administration RadioShack’s brand grew to more than 241 sales positions, with a volume of more than 1.9 million units sold annually.

Unicomer is a multilatin, based in El Salvador for 24 years, dedicated to the retail and financial services business. It has a presence in 21 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a portfolio that includes more than 25 brands and 13,870 collaborators.

In El Salvador, the networks of La Curacao, Almacenes Tropigas, RadioShack, Eptica La Curacao, La Curacao Cash, Tropi Motors, Servi Total and Loco Luis operate.
