The Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs in Punta Gorda, under the Ministry of Human Development, Families, and Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, is actively holding community discussions about the Customary Maya Land Tenure Policy (MCLT).

Leaders and members from villages including Golden Stream, Indian Creek, San Pablo, San Isidro, Bladen, and Medina Bank have engaged in in-depth conversations about the MCLT Policy to gather insights from community heads.

The goal is to establish a structure that guides Belize in defining and safeguarding the rights associated with Maya Customary Land Tenure, in line with the Consent Order’s provisions.
