On August 20, the Legislative Assembly approved a$320 million loanthe Latin American and Caribbean Development Bank (CAF), destined for the construction of the terminal in the east, as well as the remodeling and modernization of Ilopango Airport.

In 2022, CEPA, accompanied by the Ministry of Public Works, began the first interventions in the countryside, with measurements of land and relocation of the inhabitants living mainly from agriculture.

Similarly, a study prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN) determined that the project complies with the status ofmoderate to high potential environmental impact..
