National production growth fell slightly compared to the third quarter of 2022, which is attributed to the political situation.
Economic activity measured by the estimate of real gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 3.7% in the third quarter of 2023, slightly lower than the rate of variation achieved in the same period last year of 3.8%. This result was influenced by the increase in the components of domestic demand, – household and central government consumption, as well as investment – and by the increase in imports of goods and services, the report adds.
The quarterly GDP report was known last Wednesday night January 10 by the members of the Monetary Board (JM), which indicates that the national economy showed a positive performance, despite the political-economic cycle for the realization of the second presidential round and the results that gave as winner to the binomial of Bernardo Arévalo and Karim Herrera.
