Eduardo Gomes, the Vice President of the Brazilian Senate, has recently highlighted the growing trade relationship between Vietnam and Brazil, advocating for an exhibition to enhance awareness of Vietnam in Brazil.

His proposal aims to deepen the understanding of Vietnam among Brazilians and fortify economic and cultural ties, building on the strategic partnership initiated during Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit in November 2024.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil, Bui Van Nghi, emphasized that Brazil stands as Vietnam’s largest partner in Latin America, facilitating significant imports and exports between the two nations.

The urgency in negotiating a free trade agreement with MERCOSUR was also underscored, indicating a mutual interest in expanding economic collaboration.

On March 13, the launch of the Brazil-ASEAN Parliamentary Friendship Group marked another milestone in enhancing relations, with discussions on trade opportunities.

Waldemar Oliveira, its Chairman, noted that trade between Brazil and ASEAN had surged to over US$22 billion in 2020, signifying a robust foundation for diversifying markets and strengthening Brazil’s global position.
