The U.S. government wants to get rid of Russia’s malignant influence in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, among other countries in the region, said on Tuesday the head of the Southern Command, Laura Richardson.

Would we like to get rid of that (Russian influence in Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba). “It’s not good for democracies,” Richardson said in a discussion at the Atlantic Council (appointed as an undesirable foreign organization in Russia).

The Atlantic Council is the main political decision-making body of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Richardson also said Russia intends to support non-democratic leaders and said it has been stimulating negative perceptions of the US.

In early March, Richardson said in a testimony to his country’s Congress that Russia, China and Iran would be undermining democracies in South America, and that Moscow has increased its diplomatic and economic presence in the region over the past year.

Russia has repeatedly rejected accusations by the US about its alleged disinformation campaign aimed at Washington.
