Uruguay has agreed to pay US$144 million to resolve its payment dispute with an engineering consortium led by Spain’s Sacyr.

The disagreement centered around outstanding amounts for a billion-dollar rail project that faced delays and cost overruns.

This settlement marks a significant step in ending a long-standing conflict that has impacted the completion and operation of a key infrastructure project in Uruguay.

Both parties aim to move forward after reaching this financial agreement.
