The hotel will have a capacity of about 300 rooms, conference rooms, meetings and activities.

The construction of a hotel within the grounds of Tocumen International Airport is one of the proposals of its new administration.

Turning the airport into more than a passenger entry and exit enclosure is the purpose of its manager José Ruiz.

“Most airports have been completely collapsed by space, they can’t grow, we have land, that means we can do things that others can’t do and be more than an airport,” he said.

The hotel will have a capacity of about 300 rooms, conference rooms, meetings and activities.

Ruiz points out that it is necessary to establish a route of what is to be achieved with the airport in the next 20 or 50 years to start working on it immediately.

Another project to be launched in a few months is the construction of a third runway, estimated to be between $800 million and $1.5 million.

“It’s a project that has to be done out of necessity, it had to be done three years ago, we are late,” Ruiz said.

In addition, it is intended to expand Terminal 2, adding between eight and ten more doors, which translates into more daily landings and passengers.

The authorities are assessing working at the rest of the airports in the country to make the most of it, as they are not currently being profited.

“Our dirt facilities allow us to extend their services, guaranteeing a better experience for the thousands of travelers who pass through Panama every day,” Ruiz said.
