Saffron Walden singer Joanna Eden is launching her seventh album, The Road to Paysandú, inspired by her visits to Uruguay with her husband Andrés Lafone, who is from Paysandú.

The album captures the creative energy Joanna finds when removed from everyday life, describing her time in Uruguay as sparking an “almost childlike curiosity.”

Much of the album was written over several years and recorded at the historic Sondor Studio in Montevideo, where notable South American artists have worked since 1938.

Grammy-winning Uruguayan keyboard player Hugo Fattoruso also contributes to the album, adding to its rich cultural blend.

Joanna’s single, ‘The Kindness of a Friend,’ honors those who have supported her music journey, including singer Sam Smith, with whom she performed a duet at the BBC Proms.

She credits her creative breakthroughs to the support of her friends and the new perspectives gained abroad.
