Panama tourism revenue up 8.7% in the first half of 2024

A total of 1 million 443 thousand 424 visitors have received the country from January to June 2024, reflecting an increase of 8.7% compared to the one million 328 thousand 179 visitors registered in the same period of 2023, reported the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP).

This positive variation translates into 115 thousand 245 additional visitors, which reaffirms Panama as an increasingly attractive destination in the region.

In the same period, Tocumen International Airport, the main gateway to the country, received a million 029 thousand 528 visitors, marking a significant increase of 15.8%, compared to the 889 thousand 415 visitors who arrived during the first 6 months of 2023.

In addition, preliminary figures for hotel monitoring in Panama, during the period January to June 2024 indicate that the occupancy rate is around 51.8%.

Foreign exchange income recorded in the period January to June 2024 was 3,083.0 (not including international transport) compared to 2023 with 2,795.6, or about 287.4 more the previous year, representing a growth rate of 10.3%.
