Young people in the former Peruvian Diocese of Chiclayo found a unique space for worship and community in the parish parking lot behind the bishop’s residence.

They gathered to rehearse music and dance late into the night, all while remaining within hearing distance of then-Bishop Robert F. Prevost.

Bishop Prevost encouraged these noisy gatherings, urging the youth to stay involved rather than disengaged, echoing Pope Francis’s call at World Youth Day 2013.

This support reflected a broader focus under Pope Leo XIV, who, during his eight years as bishop of Chiclayo, placed significant emphasis on social ministries and dedicated special attention to youth groups.
