Honduran Prosecutor’s Office files indictment against five former MPs for embezzlement

The Public Prosecutor’s Office (Prosecution) of Honduras announced on Wednesday that it has submitted an indictment for fraud against seven people, five of them former MPs, of whom two have already been captured by the police, who allegedly diverted public funds.

The request (an indictment for the justice system to proceed against those mentioned) was filed by the Specialized Tax Unit against Corruption Networks (Uferco) and three of the former deputies in the period 2006-2014 and two in 2010-2014, under the Administrations of Manuel Zelaya and Porfirio Lobo, as indicated by the Prosecutor’s Office in an unidentified statement to the defendants.
