El Salvador’s Permanent Representative to UN condemns violence against minors during security council debate

El Salvador’s ambassador to the UN says she condemned all forms of violence against minors in the United Nations Security Council’s annual open debate.

The UN report points to more than 30,705 violations of the human rights of children in conflict during 2023including killings and abductions, and points to the conflict in Israel and Palestinian territory.

According to the Salvadoran mission to the UN, El Salvador “avenged all parties to comply with international humanitarian law.”

“Our country requested the Council to continue to address the serious crisis in the rights of girls and boys in armed conflict, and we demand an end to attacks on civilian property, including schools and hospitals,” he said in X.

TheEl Salvador ambassador to the UN, Egriselda Lópezalso participated in theHumanitarian segment of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc)in which he considered “essential to address the funding gap to humanitarian responses” and joined the call to “put humanity first in the face of conflicts and the climate crisis.”

The civil servantparticipated in the Fourth Summit of Chief Police Chiefs at the United Nations, together with the Director General of the National Civil Police (PNC), Mauricio Arriaza ChicasHe highlighted achievements in public security and the Salvadoran contribution to United Nations peacekeeping operations.
