With three gold and four bronze medals, the national delegation responded in El Paredón, Guatemala
El Salvador finished runner-up in the general medal of the 2024 Central American Tournament by winning three gold and four bronze medals in the regional competition that took place on El Paredón beach, Guatemala, from 27 to 29 September.
The Salvadoran team won gold medal with Julissa Moody in open ladies, Sindy Portillo’s golden metal on female longboard and Amado de Jesús Alvarado’s golden presea on men’s longboard. All of them are beneficiaries of the Effort and Glory Programme.
In the women’s longboard final, Portillo beat Guatemalan Alejandra Zaid, Erika Berra and chapina Deymi Sandoval, while in male, Amado Alvarado was left on top of Costa Rican Dorian Torres, Salvadoran Henry Salinas and tico Maikol Álvarez.
Thank God for allowing me to win this medal, the sea was difficult for the longboards, mainly to enter, and I didn’t stop praying at any time for God’s protection, and I kind of felt the backing above. This medal is yet another achievement of my effort, of the discipline that helps me focus much more on my dreams that are gradually coming true,” Sindy said.
“Thank God for this award,” Alvarado, a surfer originally from Conchalío beach, La Libertad, published.
The other Salvadoran bronzes were brought by Bryan Pérez, surfer E&G, in men’s open, and Henry Salinas, in longboard mode.
In men’s open, the highest honors were for Costa Ricans Andreas Schneider and Secar Urbina.
With this harvest, El Salvador stayed stalked in the first place, but in the end the Costa Rican team was crowned champion with three golds, four silvers and three bronzes, while the third place was for Guatemala with five silvers and four bronzes.
Fourth place was for the Panamanian delegation that added two golds conquered by Edonays Caballero and Macky Samudio in the SUP races.
