El Salvador and China ended the first round of negotiations to sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), according to presidential adviser Raymond Villalta.
According to Villalta, during the meeting both delegations advanced on issues such as “protection of intellectual property, exchange of services, recognition of legal frameworks,” among others.
The Ministry of Economy (Minec) detailed in its X account that progress also included topics such as access to and distribution of Salvadoran products in the Chinese market, the facilitation of trade between the two countries, the digital economy for the promotion of e-commerce, the recognition and support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as cooperation for the strengthening of economic capacities.
In this round, exchanges were also held on the applicable customs legislation, “FaciliationDelTrade, health measures and technical regulations.”
