With two years from clocking 40, Brazil forward Marta’s legs are not giving up just yet.

She has just penned a new deal with America’s National Women’s Soccer League side Orlando Pride.

In fact, Marta’s latest contract will expire end of 2026 when she enters the 40s.

The Florida-based team Marta plays for had a hugely successful season last year winning the NWSL championship for the first time in 2024. Marta scored the decisive goal in the semifinal against the Kansas City Current.

The Brazil has been at Pride since 2017 making 128 appearances with 42 goals to her credit.

Records show that Marta is one of the most recognized faces in women’s soccer. She is regarded by many to be the greatest of all time.

Her name has been decorated six times as FIFA World Player of the Year between 2006 and 2018. She also holds the record for most goals in FIFA Women’s World Cup history with 17.

Unfortunately for Brazil, Marta dropped her guard on international duty calling it quits after Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to the United States in the final of the Paris Olympics in August 2024. It’s unclear if she will play for Brazil again.

In December, Marta became the first winner of FIFA’s new award for the best goal in women’s soccer over the previous year, aptly named after herself.
