The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minex) of Guatemala announced on April 4 that economist Hugo Beteta will be appointed as the next Guatemalan Ambassador to the United States, based in Washington, D.C.
Beteta was the candidate nominated by the Government of Guatemala and according to the Minex, this person has been welcomed by the Government of the United States of America for that position.

He was also the National Planning Secretary of Guatemala, dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administration and vice-rector of the Rafael Landívar University of Guatemala.
