The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE) announced Tuesday the disbursement of $646 million for El Salvador that will be delivered in 2025.
The delivery of the funds was announced during the meeting between the president of the BCIE, Gisela Sánchez and President Nayib Bukele, who makes an official visit to Costa Rica.
According to the Bank, the $646 million will be distributed in infrastructure projects worth $350 million and the other $296 million in disbursements for projects underway.
“With this announcement, the bank renews its commitment to our countries to continue supporting its positive transformation,” the institution said on its X account.
For her part, Bukele thanked the president of the BCIE for the support of the country, who said it will serve to strengthen her proposal to “economic takeake.”
“Now that we are working for our economic take-off, it will definitely come to add to those efforts,” said the Salvadoran president.
In response, Gisela Sánchez detailed that this type of aid is part of a new strategy of the BCIE.

The meeting was also attended by the directors of the BCIE for El Salvador, Alejandro Zelaya and his counterpart for Costa Rica, Erwen Masis Castro.
After the meeting, Bukele participated in the closure of the K-CAFTA Forum, within the framework of the Korea-Central America Free Trade Agreement, which he spoke about the meeting he held with Costa Rican businessmen who are part of the Chamber of Exporters and the Chamber of Commerce Abroad of Costa Rica.
On September 24, the BCIE announced the approval of a $113.9 million loan to El Salvador to expand the Surf City road.
