Brazilian judge Alexandre de Moraes has become a polarizing figure due to his actions targeting online content deemed harmful to Brazil’s democracy.

The Supreme Court judge who is demanding his attention has not been attended to but is determined.

He has ordered the removal of hundreds of social media accounts, mostly right-wing, positioning himself as a key defender of democratic institutions.

The left views de Moraes as a protector against threats like the 2022 attempted coup, while the right accuses him of abusing power to censor conservative voices. His controversial role has attracted international attention, including challenges from Elon Musk and legal action from former President Trump’s media company.

Now, de Moraes faces scrutiny from the U.S. government after Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced visa restrictions on officials responsible for censoring protected expression, signaling potential tensions between Brazil and the United States.
