Paraguay’s government announced it “contained” two recent cyber breaches affecting sensitive data in key institutions.

However, skepticism grew as stolen information had already appeared online, challenging the claim of containment.

The affected bodies include the Jury of Judgment of Magistrates and the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Screenshots posted by the hacking group CyberTeam revealed extracted data on judges, prosecutors, and national health programs.

Despite official statements about ongoing mitigation efforts, experts and the public question Paraguay’s readiness and ability to prevent further data leaks amid repeated attacks.

This incident follows earlier hacks, including the refusal to pay ransom for leaked citizenship data and other breaches linked to foreign cyber actors.

Paraguay’s cybersecurity challenges reflect broader structural issues in addressing digital threats and protecting government systems.
