Former President Jair Bolsonaro was hospitalized in northeast Brazil on Friday due to abdominal pain, interrupting his regional political tour.

His political party announced that he felt “strong” pain during an event in Rio Grande do Norte, leading to his transportation to a hospital in Natal.

Bolsonaro is in stable condition with no symptoms, as confirmed by his local medical team.

He underwent scans to evaluate the possibility of intestinal obstruction, but doctors indicated that surgery is not necessary at this time.

The former president expressed hope for a quick recovery to continue his campaign efforts across the country.

Bolsonaro’s current health issue arises amid an ongoing political backdrop, as he campaigns for amnesty legislation related to his supporters’ actions following his electoral defeat in 2022.

Facing a trial for allegedly conspiring to undermine the government, he has consistently denied wrongdoing, framing the legal proceedings as politically motivated attacks against conservative figures.
