Among the projects that will be supported with the Kingdom is a water and biogas treatment project on the Acelhuate River.
The republic’s vice president, Felix Ulloa, said Tuesday that the El Salvador government will hold new commercial and cultural ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to the official, El Salvador is positioned as a destination that promotes tourism as one of the main axes for economic growth, he said on the eve of the Future Investment Initiative forum, held in Riyadh.
We opened our embassy here a month ago. This is the first embassy of any Central American country in Saudi Arabia. Why is that? Because we want to strengthen our diplomatic relations with this beautiful country, with this government. We will soon move on to the commercial relationship and move on to cultural exchange, he revealed for the Arab News news portal.
He added that: I have a meeting with universities to promote cultural exchange, bring Saudis to El Salvador and bring Salvadorans to come and strengthen these cultural relations.
On the other hand, Ulloa emphasized that with these new ties with the Kingdom, in the economic sphere, it will also be an opportunity to focus on bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
We also have an opportunity for the digital economy. For example, El Salvador is the first country in the world to approve a cryptocurrency, bitcoin, as a legal tender currency. That happened in September 2021. Now, we have another law that approves digital assets, Ulloa said.
Last May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed an agreement with the Saudi Development Fund, in which they agreed to launch a water and biogas treatment project on the Acelhuate River, located in San Salvador.
Ulloa also praised the management of the current government with regard to the improvement of infrastructure to support and promote tourism.
