Las altas temperaturas y la crisis clim\u00e1tica han agravado la situaci\u00f3n, obligando a los agricultores a buscar alternativas sostenibles. Fue nesse cen\u00e1rio que surgi\u00f3 Agropelo, un proyecto liderado por la fundaci\u00f3n Matter of Trust Chile, que transforma residuos capilares en herramientas para enfrentar el estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde 2020, la fundaci\u00f3n recolecta cabello en m\u00e1s de 350 salones de belleza a lo largo del pa\u00eds. Luego de ser higienizado, el material es procesado mediante t\u00e9cnicas de tejido mec\u00e1nico hasta convertirse en discos o tapetes de cobertura morta totalmente compostables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan Mattia Carenini, CEO de Matter of Trust <a href=\"https:\/\/latamreports.com\/es\/comunidades-indigenas-desafian-la-estrategia-del-litio-en-chile-no-nos-preguntan-si-aceptamos-o-no\/\">Chile<\/a>, los estudios realizados demuestran que estos tapetes reducen la evaporaci\u00f3n directa del suelo en un 71% y permiten ahorrar hasta un 48% del agua destinada a riego. Adem\u00e1s, el cabello aporta nutrientes como nitr\u00f3geno, calcio y azufre, enriqueciendo el suelo y aumentando en hasta un 30% la productividad agr\u00edcola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uno de los casos emblem\u00e1ticos es el de Mar\u00eda Salazar, agricultora en Taltal, al norte de Chile. Ella aplica los tapetes capilares en sus cultivos de lim\u00f3n. \u201cEstos tapetes son una gran ayuda frente al estr\u00e9s h\u00eddrico. Al dar sombra, conservan mejor la humedad y protegen la poca agua que tenemos de la evaporaci\u00f3n\u201d, relat\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su utilidad ambiental, el proyecto tambi\u00e9n plantea una reflexi\u00f3n sobre el aprovechamiento de residuos humanos como insumos productivos.
