{"id":5564,"date":"2024-06-04T21:35:50","date_gmt":"2024-06-04T21:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/latamreports.com\/es\/?p=5564"},"modified":"2024-06-04T21:35:52","modified_gmt":"2024-06-04T21:35:52","slug":"inflation-in-honduras-slows-to-0-16-in-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/latamreports.com\/es\/inflation-in-honduras-slows-to-0-16-in-may\/","title":{"rendered":"inflation in Honduras slows to 0.16% in May"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>According to projections released by the BCH in the Monetary Programme 2024-2025, inflation in Honduras will be between 4 % and 5 per cent this year and next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tunota.com\/honduras-hoy\/economia\/inflacion-honduras-cerro-primer-trimestre-con-acumulada-mas-baja-en-tres-anos-2024-04-05\">Inflation in Honduras<\/a><\/strong> slowed last May for the third consecutive month and stood at 0.16 percent, the lowest recorded in the last year, due to lower prices of some food and fuel, an official source reported Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report by the <strong>Central Bank of Honduras (BCH),<\/strong> in this way, the inflation accumulated in the first five months stood at 1.85 per cent, the &#8220;lo lowest for this same month&#8221; in the last three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The head of Economic Information Management at the BCH, <strong>Osman Garcia,<\/strong> said the country has <strong>&#8220;a<\/strong> slowdown&#8221; in inflation over the past three months thanks to lower prices of products of agricultural origin, such as corn, rice and some vegetables, meat foods, seafood and eggs, and fuel reductions over the past five weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He noted that <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tunota.com\/honduras-hoy\/economia\/reservas-internacionales-de-honduras-caen-a-menos-de-7-mil-millones-de-dolares-2024-06-01\">currency and foreign exchange and fiscal measures<\/a><\/strong> have &#8220;incidented in lower <strong>fuel prices;<\/strong> and <strong>electricity<\/strong> through subsidies.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inflation in Honduras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Year-on-year inflation (May 2023-May 2024) recorded a rate of 4.94 per cent, lower than the 6.58 % it reached in the same period last year, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The monetary institution indicated that last May the weighted average fall in food and non-alcoholic beverages &#8220;attenuated monthly inflation with a negative participation of 0.19 percentage points.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel sectors, hotels and cafes and restaurants reported &#8220;a greater contribution&#8221; in the May <strong>Consumer Price Index<\/strong> (CPI), with 0.06 percentage points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Personal care, clothing and footwear, furniture and household items, with 0.03 percentage points each.
