Security Minister Juan Manuel Pino reported on Sunday, June 2, that a shipment of 49.3 tons of drugs was transferred to the United States to be incinerated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pino indicated that these substances are part of the accumulated security cellars where seizures arrive in different police operations at the national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was known that staff of the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) and the Public Prosecutor’s Office will be present throughout the process until the drug is incinerated in the city of Philadelphia, United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The decision to move this drug to the United States is given to root out the pollution caused every time the open-air drug is burned in Panama. “We need to ensure a healthy environment and this is a concrete action for the benefit of all,” said the head of Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this regard, he said that Panama already has an incinerator through cooperation agreements between the Panamanian Government with the United States embassy. In infrastructure the incinerator is ready, only the corresponding formalities are missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Monthly security levels in Panama seed 12 tons of drugs, which means that every three months storage spaces end up saturated, the Ministry of Security reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
