A group of hackers calling themselves “ransomhub” threatens to filter, on a deep web site (deep web), 497 gigabytes (GB) of information removed from the Constellation Savings and Credit Society of El Salvador,<\/strong> which allegedly includes data from the clients of this institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the publication of “ransomhub,” prior to publishing the information there was a “negotiation” with the society by the information removed from the financials’ online databases, but they did not thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constellation confirmed on Thursday afternoon, April 4, through its social networks, that there was a<\/strong> “cybersecurity accident that has affected our digital services<\/strong>,” but denied that the information removed affects “the sensitive information of our customers.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The message published by “ransomhub” includes a small sample of the information they have in their possession and shows photographs of the requests for personal credits made to the Constellation Society by natural persons<\/strong>. These requests contain personal data from customers, such as address, telephone number and salary ranges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The RANIFIC PRESS tried to contact the offices of the Constellation Savings and Credit Society to have a broader version of what happened and also sent an email to its shareholder manager, but did not obtain answers until the close of this note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is not the first time that Salvadoran data has been stolen by hackers and put up online. In August 2023, the GRANIFIC PRENSA published that the personal data of 5.1 million Salvadorans<\/a> were being negotiated on the deep web. So far, the authorities have not ruled on this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
