There is currently only one step enabled for the controlled flow of migrants. The aim is to prevent migration from reaching the neighborhoods.
The Minister of Security appointed, Frank Ábrego, stressed this Friday that patrols of the National Border Service (Senafront) have already begun to block in most migrant crossings, leaving only one enabled.
According to Ábrego, the Colombian authorities are aware of this step, as are much of the migrants.
“That is the only place where the passage is going to be allowed, and as the president said, with full identification, in this case a passport or similar document,” Ábrego said.
The minister stressed that this controlled flow has managed to prevent organized crime and migrants from penetrating the city and neighborhoods.
In this regard, the head of the Ministry of Security recalled that years ago there were significant blocks of migrants in the terminal and parks of the city.

“That is the fear of citizenship. Today we continue to try to avoid this through the security levels,” he added.
However, the minister acknowledged that some criminal organizations still operate in the country from the Gulf of Urabá.
Ábrego accompanied the president-elect, José Raúl Mulino, on Friday on a tour of Darién, where they observed the migration crisis in the first person.
Mulino hopes to sign an agreement with the United States for the repatriation of migrants soon.
The president pointed out that he has seen crisis in Darién, but the current one jumped the fence, while adding that no one can ask Panama to take this.
