Bukele announces more agromarkets

Until Thursday, 24 agromarkets were enabled nationwide. The additional ones were enabled in Chalatenango, Cabañas and San Salvador.

The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, announcedtwo new agromarketsthat will be located from this Thursday in the departments of Chalatenango and Cabañas.

“Little by little, we will open more agromarkets, until we reach all the municipalities of our country,” the president said on social networks.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) indicated that the agromarket in Chalatenango is located in the municipal park of the district of Nueva Concepción, in Chalatenango Centro, while the second is located in the central park of Cabañas, in the municipality of Cabañas Este.

Morazán is the only department at the national level that does not have an agromarket,by the MAG, currently authorized.

After this announcement,the MAG reported on another market that will be installed from this July 11 in the square Monsignor Romero, district of Ciudad DelgadoSan Salvador Center.

Location points

The MAG recalled that 24 agromarkets are open every day, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The rest of the retail markets are located in 11 departments,Specifically in the colony La Palma, in the district of San Francisco Menéndez, Ahuachapán Sur; in the colony El Palmar and Skate Park of the colony El IVU, both in the district of Santa Ana, Santa Ana Centro.

Added to these are other enabled points near the municipal market of Metapán, Santa Ana Norte; the market of Acajutla, Sonsonate Oeste, and the park of Armenia, Sonsonate East.

Three markets were set up in the department of La Libertad, one in Daniel Hernández Park, Santa Tecla, La Libertad Sur; another in the central park of San Juan Opico, La Libertad Centro; and another in the Plaza Centenario de Quezaltepeque, La Libertad Norte.

The central park Noah Canjura, in Apopa, San Salvador Oeste, is another of the established points along with the Placita Bitcoin of Ilopango, the Unicentro del Redon del Soyapango, and the Mayor’s Office of San Martín, all located in the municipality of San Salvador Este.

In the municipality of San Salvador Sur, another market was located in the Jewel of Esperanza y Paz Park, in San Marcos; while in San Salvador Centro these offers are available in the Mayor of Mejicanos.

Agribusinesses open every day until 6:00 p.m.

The aim of agromarkets is to connect producers with consumers without intermediaries. The initiative dates back to 2004, when the MAG Agro-Business Division promoted this type of support for farmers in the institution’s facilities.
The project took strength again in early 2023, when the MAG announced the establishment of thespecific days.
