Enquanto o organismo humano utiliza predominantemente amino\u00e1cidos na forma \u201cL\u201d, os cientistas testaram a vers\u00e3o invertida, conhecida como D-ciste\u00edna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essa pequena diferen\u00e7a estrutural faz toda a diferen\u00e7a no funcionamento biol\u00f3gico. Algumas c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas possuem um tipo espec\u00edfico de transportador que permite a entrada dessa vers\u00e3o \u201cespelhada\u201d da mol\u00e9cula. J\u00e1 as c\u00e9lulas saud\u00e1veis, em geral, n\u00e3o apresentam essa mesma facilidade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uma vez dentro da c\u00e9lula tumoral, a D-ciste\u00edna interfere diretamente na produ\u00e7\u00e3o de energia. O mecanismo envolve o bloqueio da enzima NFS1, essencial para o funcionamento das mitoc\u00f4ndrias \u2014 estruturas respons\u00e1veis por manter a atividade celular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sem essa enzima, a c\u00e9lula perde efici\u00eancia energ\u00e9tica, acumula falhas e reduz sua capacidade de multiplica\u00e7\u00e3o. Na pr\u00e1tica, o tumor deixa de crescer no mesmo ritmo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esse efeito tem sido descrito pelos pesquisadores como uma esp\u00e9cie de \u201cfome metab\u00f3lica\u201d. Em vez de destruir imediatamente as c\u00e9lulas, a estrat\u00e9gia enfraquece seu funcionamento ao longo do tempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resultados iniciais animam, mas especialistas mant\u00eam cautela<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Nos testes realizados em laborat\u00f3rio e em modelos animais, os resultados foram considerados relevantes.
